A swim-up suite is normally found on the ground-floor of the hotel with a private patio or terrace that allows you to step directly into a swimming pool. The pool might be a shared lagoon or river style pool connecting several suites together or in some cases, a semi-private plunge pool just for your suite and the suite adjacent to you. Swim up suites provide a place to sit and relax, to cool off from the hot sun from the privacy of your suite. Each suite typically includes a private outdoor space, normally furnished with a bistro dining set and loungers or hammock. The ultimate swim-up suite experience is to book a private pool suite so that you do not have to share your pool with anyone else for maximum privacy.

4. Secrets Tides, Punta Cana (semi-private)
The Preferred Club Master Suite Swim-Out suites are oceanfront, come with butler service – direct pool access from your private terrace. Access to the exclusive preferred club suite, king bed, my recent experience in this suite was amazing.
5.Excellence Club Playa Mujeres, Cancun,Mexico (semi-private)
Step off your private patio, across the lawn to the semi-private Excellence Club swim up jr suites, these hammocks the perfect spot to relax and enjoy a nap, these suites are 807 square feet, 24 hour room service and Excellence Club Amenities
6. Sandals Royal Curacao, Curacao (Semi-private lagoon pool)
Kurason Island Poolside Butler Bungalow suites here at Sandals Royal Curacao are so unique – situated around a heart shaped lagoon complete with a palm studded island. These bungalows offer vaulted ceilings, hardwood floors and lots of light, butler service, private patio with tranquility soaking tub, extended sun deck. Complimentary use of a convertible Mini Cooper to explore the island.
7. Sandals Saint Vincent, (private pool) 
These butler villa suites are 1,127 square feet with a private pool with a garden setting, a private movie lounge (popcorn and dessert delivered to your door), personal butler service , love the bathroom with a patio soaking tub, double vanities and huge walk-in rain shower.
8. Hermitage Bay, Antigua (private pool)
with extensive renovations the villas offer private pools and impeccable service, a wellness resort to its core offering peace of mind -these hillside ocean view pool villas are my favorite place to relax on resort – the new decor a perfect blend of contemporary with the original spirit of the resort.

10. Impression Moxche by Secrets (private pool)
The Presidential Villa Beachfront pool suite at Impression Moxche by Secrets is just incredible – this 6,168 square foot suite is one of the best in Playa del Carmen, direct access to an oversized terrace with a private pool, a large living room area large enough to host friends or your bridal party with two king beds – perfect to relax and entertainment, a dining table that seats eight.
Things to consider as you choose your resort:
- privacy varies by resort – most resorts have planted lush shrubbery or hedges to provide some privacy while enjoying the pool, semi-private can be shared with other guests in your room block.
- Location Matters: rooms closest to the pool bar or beach can be slightly cheaper but will be more noisy and less private. As a rule of thumb south facing suites get the best sunlight and the water is warmest (verify sun exposure for the room category chosen)
- If flexible, book during low season (Sept-Oct) for best pricing, if booking at a family friendly resort, swim-up rooms are very popular and book quickly during school vacations.
- Instagram worthy amenities like floating room service trays, butler service and luxury robes are included with some suites
