The Allure of Costa Rica

April 2, 2020 By Linda Leave a Comment

Costa Rica is one of the most biologically diverse regions on earth – rugged lands embraced by the Pacific Ocean on the west and the Caribbean Sea on the east.  Its fascinating ecosystems, 26 national parks, eight biological reserves, numerous protected wildlife habitats and miles of inviting beaches beckon thousands of visitors each year. Located on the Ring of Fire, Costa Rica is home to over two hundred identified volcanic formations (some over sixty million years old) showcasing some of natures most beautiful artwork. Costa Rica’s many national parks and reserves are a haven for the eco-tourist, surfing, hiking, golf, scuba diving and world class spas featuring the hot springs are ever popular for visitors as well. From romantic honeymoons to guided  group tours Costa Rica offers something for every visitor.

To maintain its vast natural beauty Costa Rican law protects not only the wildlife, but its bio-diverse land with strict restrictions on development on beaches and within rainforests. There is so much for adventure lovers to explore-zip-lining through vast lush green canopies, whitewater rafting down serious rapids, hang ten in one of the best surfing destinations in the world or horseback ride through amazing landscapes. Volcanoes – best known Arenal Volcano visible from most resort areas and spas  has stood guard over Costa Rica for thousands of years. Visitors should note that dry season is December to April and the prefect time to explore the rainforest or relax on the beach, but also can be very crowded in the larger cities.

Unique features of Costa Rica :

Wellness – Thermal Springs warmed by local volcanoes make spa days something special, Forest Bath– featuring mindful meditations in this ancient practice of forest bathing to soothe souls and enhance health and happiness, Blue Zones – (an area where locals commonly live to be over 100 years old) Costa Rica’s Nicoya Peninsula has been named one of the world’s five classified Blue Zones.

Wildlife – Costa Rica is home to over half a million different species of indigenous animals ,including just over 300,000 insects.

Diversity- famed cloud forests, mist from the skies settle into the treetops, lending an otherworldly look into the greenery and offering spectacular views of the country, rainforests with their own eco-zone, mangroves and dry forests with all types of vegetation.

Guanacaste & Nicoya Peninsula:  A highly popular tourist destination seeking unspoiled beaches, tropical dry forests and luxury resorts. Along the Nicoya Peninsula you’ll find more incredible beachscapes and secluded hotels.

Northern Area:  With Arenal Volcano looming in the distance, home to abundant greenery, rainforests, waterfalls and magnificent spa resorts for the perfect relaxing escape.

Mama’s Fish House Restaurant

Mama’s Fish House, Maui’s first fresh fish restaurant was born in 1973. The Christenson family fell in love with the lifestyle of old Polynesia as they sailed across the South Pacific in the late 1950’s, finally settling on Maui in 1963. Along the way they learned many ways to prepare fresh fish and to share the aloha […]
