Tahiti and her islands are on the minds of anyone looking for a romantic trip to paradise – most have visions of overwater bungalows, clear blue waters and smiling Tahitian faces eagerly waiting to share their joie de vivre with their guests through dance and music.
Some of the most popular romantic excursions and activities are a Romantic Canoe Breakfast,Private Tahiti Motu Picnic, getting married in Tahiti- If time permits I suggest to combine at least two islands together for your Tahiti Honeymoon- Check out this quick video form Tahiti Tourism for a brief glimpse into the magic of Tahiti
Some Helpful Travel Tips:
Weather In general Tahiti weather is pleasant all year round and perfect for wearing summer clothing all day and evening long but November to May the climate is warmer and more humid with high temperatures of about 85 and lows of 70 F , more rain is likely to fall during the warmer season, but there are also lovely trade-winds to offset the humidity.** flights and hotels are normally cheaper during this season **Multiple consecutive rainy days is unlikely and most shower pass in an hour or two – long enough for a great nap– June-October the climate is cooler and drier with daily high temperature of 82F and lows of 70F, less frequent rain. Average ocean water temperature is in the low 80’s.
Language: Tahiti and French are the main languages spoken throughout French Polynesia. English is spoken by staff at most major hotels, shops and restaurants. Since most Tahitians are shy by nature, having a App on your phone with a few french phrases and Tahitian greetings will go along way in helping you engage in conversation
Flights to Tahiti: French Polynesia is accessible from most major airports around the world – most flights from the USA arrive from , Honolulu on Hawaiian Airlines, New York or Los Angeles, the majority of my clients route through Los Angeles on Air France or Air Tahiti Nui .All international air traffic passes through Faaa Airport in Papeete on Tahiti – so when you are traveling to the outer islands, many times you will have to spend the first night in Papeete. Flying time is approximately 8 hours from Los Angeles, 13 hours from New York and 5 hours from Hawaii.
Entry Requirements: All travelers must present a valid passport to board a flight to French Polynesia ( must be valid for a full six months – 180 days) past your return date. US and Canadian citizens only need a valid passport – no VISA required. Citizens of all other countries will need to have a valid VISA to enter Tahiti -remember it is always the passenger’s responsibility to have proper documentation to travel out of the country. Your first and last name on the passport must match your international airline ticket exactly. You will also be required to show your valid passport upon return from French Polynesia to enter the United States or Canada.
One of my clients just returned from spending their wedding anniversary at Le Taha’a Island Resort & Spa – they chose the end of the pontoon over-water suite – hard to believe this must breakfast can be delivered by a beautiful flower and frond decorated canoe and served by a hostess and oarsman. They shared a few photos from their stay:
