Sandals Grande Antigua

Two distinct villages combine for the best of all worlds at Sandals Grande Antigua – on the one side you have the casually elegant Caribbean Beachfront Village and the other old world European charm of the all-suite Mediterranean Oceanview Village. I have just returned from staying at this resort and wanted to share some thoughts

The first portion of my stay was in the six-star Mediterranean Village – I stayed in an ocean view club level suite – concierge redefined. The décor of the Mediterranean Village draws inspiration from the finest of European piazzas and villas – pillars, tile work, marble, art work all combine to bring old world romance.

Everywhere you look European romance is on display from the moment you arrive with towering colonnades, authentic architectural details such as painted ceilings, intricate mosaics, shimmering fountains.

Saint Mark’s Square anchors the village from day to night with the signature pool, fashionable shops, art gallery and boutique eateries including Mario’s Italian restaurant, brick-oven pizzeria , French pastry café and authentic British Pub.  Chic cabanas surround the shimmering pool, dolphin fountains shoot water into the pool.

A wide range of suites are found throughout the Mediterranean Village – and the pinnacle of the suites are the Mediterranean Plunge Pool Villas -these butler suites open to expansive decks with private plunge pools and whirlpools.

Just steps away you will find the Caribbean Beachfront Village a true authentic seaside oasis that is totally authentically Caribbean. Lush tropical landscapes, palm trees and flowering shrubs and vines make up a tropical garden paradise. Accommodations are found in gingerbread-trimmed cottages and secluded exotic rondovals(suites in the round) all just steps from the beach.

The second portion of my stay was in a beachfront rondoval with private butler service, 20′ conical ceilings, spa inspired bath, and 22 steps to the sand – a few photos of my suite.
