One & Only Palmilla Los Cabos

One & Only Palmilla Los Cabos is situated on one of Baja Mexico’s few swimmable beaches and only about 15 minutes from the Cabo San Lucas International Airport. I am happy to report that this luxury resort has reopened after damage received during Hurricane Odile. Taking advantage of the situation the resort has added a host of new enhancements to this already fabulous resort including refurbished guestrooms and suites,new adult outdoor lounging area with panoramic ocean views, enhanced  22,000 square foot One & Only Spa(complete with OBO Salon by Jonathan & George) Fitness Center, new SEARED Steakhouse by Jean-Georges Vongerichten.

Always known as a favorite hideaway for Hollywood elite, world famous authors and those seeking the top in luxury and service, this lavish Mexican resort is a haven of refined tranquility. From the moment you arrive, you feel like you have arrived at someone’s home. The resort built in 1956, a 15 room hideaway of Don Abelardo Rodriguez, son of the President of Mexico. Originally only accessible by yacht or private plane(some of the earliest guest were John Wayne, Bing Crosby and Lucille Ball),but not to worry during your stay the staff makes every effort to make sure your every wish is granted just was it was for these earliest VIP guest.  Although the resort has grown in size, great efforts were made to maintain the original feel of the original hideaway. The beautiful white washed architecture with red tiled roof  is a contrast to the colorful greens of the gardens and blue of the ocean, and with the gentle sound of the fountains found throughout the gardens your stay is full of the promise of peace and tranquility.

All guestrooms and suites are sea facing with expansive ocean views, private verandahs, 24 hour shared or dedicated butler service depending upon the room category – I must say however my personal favorite has to be the Pool Casita Master Suite – beachfront with private plunge pool  and Jacuzzi on the terrace.

Wedding Chapel

Wedding are so special at this resort  with ceremony sites on the beach, various locations in the gardens, and outdoor chapel that holds up to 150 guest, or the beautiful chapel shown above that is situated on a hill overlooking the resorts tropical grounds and beach. The Chapel is traditional Mexican style with whitewashed façade, arched doorway and bell tower – suitable for a formal wedding with up to 44 guest seated.

The resort offers a host of culinary options and can accommodate special dietary needs.

Local activities include word class championship golf, deep sea fishing, seasonal-whale watching, 4X4 Mexican excursions into the Baja dessert and on my last visit I rode a Camel on the beach.
