Koloa Rum Company
The Koloa Plantation and Mill was established in Koloa Town in 1835 , the first harvest coming in 1837, producing two tons of raw sugar. Many Kaua’i natives will tell you that is actually when rum production began on Kaua’i. Koloa Rum handcrafts their single-batch premium Hawaiian rum from Kaua’i’s distinctive “tall cane” which thrives in rich volcanic soil, watered with pure water from Mt. Wai’ale’ale. These are just a few of the interesting facts you will learn during your tour of Koloa Rum Company’s Tasting Room.Koloa Rum Company is the first and only licensed distillery on the island of Kaua’i, their first batch of premium Hawaiian Rum was distilled and bottled in September 2009, which coincided with the opening of their Tasting Room & Company Store at Kilohana Plantation (pictured left).
The Tasting Room
Koloa Rum Company produces the finest, award winning , premium, single-batch Hawaiian Rums at their distillery near the town of Kalaheo, Kauai. When you visit The Tasting Room, you are able to sample a few of the award winning rums. They have been honored with several Bronze and Gold RumXP medals as well as many other distinguished honors, you can read more about this on their website under TalkStory . Be sure and visit their Company Store where in addition to of course Rum, you find cookbooks, Aloha Wear for your rum bottles , incredible chocolate sauce just to name a few items that are available for purchase.
