Whether your are traveling for your intimate Destination Wedding with just a few of your closest friends and family, Honeymoon or other Romantic Getaway these are five of my favorite intimate boutique hotels in Saint Lucia, each unique, nothing cookie cutter about these special romantic hotels.
I. Calabash Cove Resort & Spa
Located on a hillside overlooking the sheltered Bay of Bonaire, Calabash Cove is truly an exceptional place for relaxing and allowing yourself to unwind and enjoy the harmony with the stunning beauty that surrounds you. One of the owner’s favorite sayings is “Unlock your soul and rest your mind”, you can do that at Calabash Cove and trust Konrad and his team will take great care of you.
This boutique resort is made up of tastefully appointed junior suites and individual water’s edge cottages hand crafted from exotic teak and mahogany woods and private pools. All offer breathtaking views across the Caribbean sea from private patios with hammocks and daybeds.
Relax at the infinity edge pool and waterfall or spend time at the beach.
Enjoy the sunset from the C-Bar and enjoy dinner at The Windsong Restaurant or a romantic dinner on the beach or boardwalk.
A perfect location for your destination wedding, honeymoon or milestone anniversary.
II. Capella Marigot Bay Resort and Marina
Situated in one of the most beautiful bays in the Caribbean, surrounded by lush green rolling hills is where you will find Capella Marigot Bay– a discrete, luxurious destination where your every wish can be realized – as I learned from my recent stay at this amazing hotel. One of the favorite words of any staff member you encountered was “certainly” and if your personal assistant said ” let me see how I can make that happen” they found a way to continually amaze me with small details.
124 Rooms & Suites are found at Capella – some suites with private hot tubs, balconies or terrace, spacious bathrooms with luxurious drench showers, 300 thread count Egyptian Cotton Linens, four poster beds, large flat screen TV’s and more.
Bayside Café and their signature restaurant The Grill serve fabulous culinary creations, drinks served at the Brut Bar and Rum Cave-with special rum tastings
The Auriga Spa – not to be missed- my personal experience there amazing.
Although not directly situated on a beach, the resort does have arrangements with a nearby resort for guest and many activities off property such as yacht charters and boat excursions from the marina, horseback riding, discover St Lucia by Land and Sea and Rainforest Trail Hikes just to name a few.
Weddings – a special intimate affair on the lawn, Alexandria Garden or just for two in the Tree House.
III. Ladera
Taking full advantage of its natural surroundings Ladera offers a unique eco-friendly design with its guest accomodations all thirty-two suites have an “open wall” – the west side of each is left open to showcase the breath taking views and the orientation of the buildings offers complete privacy. The suites are constructed of tropical hardwoods, tone and tile and furniture is made by local St. Lucian artisans and feature local artwork.
The most lavish and spacious accommodations are found on Paradise Ridge with four luxury villas averaging 1900 square feet complete with Butler Service.
The resort restaurant Dasheene offers a St. Lucian culinary experience for breakfast, lunch and dinner featuring local organic ingredients served in the restaurant or poolside. Cocktails are served in the open air lounge while guest enjoy local bands as they perform.
If the infinity edge pool looks familiar- it was used in the filming of “Superman II” and at the time, the first in the Caribbean and the backdrop for many weddings.
Guest are offered complimentary shuttle to and from Sugar Beach (10-15 minute drive)
The Spa at Ladera features treatments that infuse St. Lucia’s volcanic history and lush rainforest that surround the resort.
IV. Boucan – Hotel Chocolat
This intimate resort sits perfectly within the stunning natural beauty that surrounds it, offering both charm and sleek contemporary style in both types of accommodations found at this resort. Situated around a relaxing garden courtyard, all six Lodges have beautiful views and open-sky rainforest showers – 450 square feet with a king size four poster bed (UK), lounging sofa and Boucan Essential Luxuries. Located in an elevated position for the most incredible views are the eight Luxe Lodges with 750 square feet, super king size four poster bed(UK), private verandah with daybed and views of the Pitons, open-sky twin rainforest shower and Boucan Essential Luxuries.
The spa features treatments such as Cacao Massages-seriously you get hungry just reading the spa menu if you like Chocolate.
Boucan Restaurant has fast become one of the hottest destinations in Saint Lucia with the spectacular natural backdrop and exclusive cacao infused cuisine, inspired by the rare cocoa that grows on the Rabot Estate. Guest of the resort can choose from different dining packages that best suit their desires. The Rib Eye with Dark Chocolate and Port Sauce was my choice and you have to save room for one of the incredible desserts – I had to try the Saint Lucian Chocolate Tart.
Hotel Chocolat is known for its Tailor-Made Holidays- although they do offer some amazing packages such as Romance & Relaxation, Total Cacao Immersion, Big Nature Package and Pampered in Paradise Package and for my honeymoon clients the Just Married Package is perfect.
While on property take the time to learn everything from Tree to Bar about Chocolate, you will be amazed how much work really goes into that chocolate bar that you enjoy.
If you are looking for a one of a kind, jaw dropping wedding location-they have this as well-resort buy outs are common for wedding groups at the resort given that there are only 14 lodges in total.
V. Jade Mountain
Words truly cannot describe the experience of seeing Jade Mountain in person- no matter how many times I return to visit I am still as amazed as the very first time I saw the resort a architectural master piece for sure. Jade Mounatin is a cornucopia of organic architecture focusing on bringing in Saint Lucia’s stunning natural beauty. Architect owner Nick Troubetzkoy has a philosophy of building in harmony with Caribbean nature. Individual bridges lead to the infinity edge pool sanctuaries, the rugged stoned- faced columns reach towards the sky – many topped by whimsical glass artwork.
Sanctuaries with wide open spaces where the bedroom , huge bathroom with Jacuzzi for two overlook the infinity edge pools – words nor photos really do these justice and my attempt at sharing this amazing resort with you really do not do it justice. Jade Mountain sanctuaries are deliberately techno-free, so no telephones, radios or televisions in the sanctuaries. Internet access is available at reception and at select locations for those who just can’t completely unplug for the duration of their stay. Guest can expect outstanding service from the resort major domos and dedicated resort team. Infinity Edge Pool sanctuaries range from 450 square feet to over 900 square feet – size increases in relation to the category – each featuring individually designed glass tiles color scheme for the pool which is carried into the bathroom making each one unique.
In addition to incredible views and sanctuary suites the resort also celebrates James Beard Award winner Chef Allen Susser’s Jade Cuisine. The show stopper however is the Celestial Terrace perfect for sunset cocktails or star gazing. Jade Mountain can either be booked as European Plan or with optional All Inclusive packages
Spa services can be enjoyed in the privacy of your sanctuary or in the Kai en Ciel , Jade Mountain’s boutique spa and fitness studio.
Guest of Jade Mountain enjoy the exclusivity and privacy that Jade Mountain offers plus guest have access to all that Anse Chastanet has to offer as well – including restaurants, bars, boutiques, art gallery, spa, scuba, bike and watersports facilities as well as two beaches.
Weddings are held on the beach, in the ruins and on the Celestial Terrace- will feature in a future blog post.
