Mama’s Fish House, Maui’s first fresh fish restaurant was born in 1973. The Christenson family fell in love with the lifestyle of old Polynesia as they sailed across the South Pacific in the late 1950’s, finally settling on Maui in 1963. Along the way they learned many ways to prepare fresh fish and to share the aloha spirit. Nestled in a beautiful oceanfront coconut grove, the converted beach house restaurant is an eclectic mixture of Polynesian artifacts, wood working, flower arrangements and artwork.
The award winning menu and level of service (Ely is my personal favorite waiter – his suggestions of what to order are always great) make for an unforgettable dining experience in Hawaii. Do yourself and favor and do not skip desert the Polynesia Black Pearl and Hana Banana Macadamia Nut Crisp are both amazing – order one of each and share
Reservations are always suggested – Call 808-579-8488 but definitely worth the wait. Make a fun day of it and visit the nearby town of Paia.
