I was saddened to hear that Jameson’s by the Sea one of my favorite restaurants on Oahu’s North Shore closed about a year ago, but I am happy to report that after an investment of $2.5 million by the owner, the restaurant has reopened as the Haleiwa Beach House in the same oceanfront location.
The original restaurant had fabulous atmosphere and delicious food, but Haleiwa Beach House I must admit is even better. Extensive renovations now feature two bars, one downstairs in the dining area and one upstairs on the open-air deck. A visit to the upstairs deck promises ocean views in one direction and a view of historic Lo Ko Ea fish pond in the other. The bar features 16 hand-selected craft beers on draft as well as bottled beer and a vast selection of wine by the bottle or glass.
The food has always been amazing but Executive Chef Chris Blanc has created a fresh new menu. Thankfully he took favorites from Jameson’s and presents them with a twist, utilizing unique flavors. The resort offers a large selection of fresh fish that can be prepared to your liking as well as steak and other entree options, burgers and a large selection of pupus or appetizers. You will definitely want to leave room for dessert – My personal favorites Grilled Mahi Mahi with Grilled Asparagus – and sometimes I splurge and treat myself to house made doughnuts.
The next time you visit Oahu, make time to visit the iconic North Shore and allow time to stop by Haleiwa Beach House for lunch or dinner( plan to visit near sunset).
